March Home Maintenance Checklist
For some, March represents the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament. Three weeks filled with bracket upsets, overtimes and historic wins. For others, it represents Wisconsin’s winter coming to an end or the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Whichever category you fall under, don’t let the upcoming events in March overshadow your HVAC home maintenance and turn your NCAA March Madness into HVAC March Madness.
If you plan on hosting a NCAA basketball viewing party in Ripon, Oshkosh, Berlin, Omro or Fond du Lac, make sure your heating and cooling system is working properly so nothing distracts you and your guests from March Madness.
March Home Maintenance Checklist:
Check your HVAC filter. If you haven’t already, upgrade your filter to a high-efficiency filter. Filters should be checked monthly but replaced every 90 days depending on your household. If you have pets, you might change your filter more frequently.
Clean your ducts. Your air ducts are the foundation for good indoor air quality and often overlooked. Over several years, air ducts can become contaminated with mold, fungi, bacteria and dust. Our technicians use a video inspection system to evaluate your home’s duct work. We look for dirt, debris, animal droppings, mold moisture and more to determine whether cleaning is necessary to improve the quality of your home’s air.
Clean around your HVAC unit. During the winter, debris and leaves can build up and you should remove any around the unit to prevent problems or damage.
Test your air conditioning. Weather conditions can change unexpectedly, and in Wisconsin we know this all too well. Don’t wait for the first hottest day before testing your air conditioning, by testing in advance you give yourself the opportunity to schedule any maintenance and repairs needed, reducing stress and any inconvenience when it comes time to use your air conditioning.
Update your thermostat. The new programable features offered through Wi-Fi thermostat smart technology can put you in complete control of your home’s heating and cooling.
